A Tour in the Front Garden
Each month brings a new phase in the flower gardens. Spring perennials are now mostly past. A few perennials bloom for months. Annuals are at their best in August. A few late-flowering perennials are just coming into flower. The pictures featured below were taken on different days, about a week apart.
In the first gallery there is gaillardia (blanket flower), Coreopsis, Joe-pyeweed (Eutrochium sp.), Scabious, zinnia, Monarda (beebalm), daylily, iceplant, and Himalayan fleeceflower (Persicaria affinis). Click an image (or hover your cursor) for a caption/ID. Before you do that, can you identify some of these yourself?
In the second gallery there is Russian sage (Salvia yangii), daylily, sweet William (Dianthus sp.), catchfly (Silene), zinnia, phlox, yarrow, calendula, echinacea, and spiked speedwell (Veronica spicata).
Some of these will be featured in information posts over the winter.
