There are a number of projects underway in the gardens. Turf is being replaced by soil for new beds, turf is being transplanted, bird feeders are being installed. Perennials are being propagated and transplanted. At the same time, maintenance is well underway – cleaning flower beds and vegetable gardens, weeding, and pruning. Many giant bags of pine needles and coarse material have gone to the recycling center. The huge home compost pile is piled high. We have stratified and planted some perennials, now in trays in the greenhouse. Other seeds have been direct seeded. There is more than enough to do and not everything gets done.
While daily work is underway, a few flowers have emerged – crocus, hyacinth, and some smaller varieties. All photos by the author. Click an image for a lightbox view and a caption.
